Springhill Camp, one of the première camps in Michigan, generously gives scholarships to ten of our children each summer. Our challenge is to choose ten children and get them ready to go. Camp forms, gear, and communication with the camp takes a lot of time and energy, especially since our camp week follows our three week VBS. Children who attend our Against the Flow group,
tutoring, and
VBS top the list of candidates
for the camp scholarships.
These are some good children.
About the girls experience, Megan Smith, our volunteer youth leader, writes: We had a great time being out in nature, in fellowship with each other, and learning about growing deeper in our relationship with Jesus Christ. Our time was spent caring for and riding horses, making tie dye shirts, praying, eating s’mores at the campfire, playing flashlight tag, and having a scavenger hunt in the woods. A great time was had by all!
At Lake Michigan the boys cooked at the campfire, played soccer on the beach, jumped in waves, and attempted to catch non-existent fish. Each morning, noon and evening we prayed and listened to a different leader offer a devotion. Much of our talk related to brotherhood and fellowship in Christ. This was a Wonderful experience for man and boy alike.
